The Village of Bayfield is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Huron with it's pleasure craft harbour on the mouth of the Bayfield River.
The 70 km drive north west from Stratford took us through quite a rain storm just outside Mitchel where we stopped at Tim Hortons for coffee.
On the other side of town the rain stopped and we continued past numerous wind turbines towards the coast.
I visited Bayfield on my last holiday in Canada when my family owned a trailer at The Old Homestead Trailer Park just outside town (see At the Trailer in Bayfield).

We had lunch at The Docks restaurant before taking a stroll out along the pier at the harbour entrance, followed by a short drive up to the town and a walk along the main street before heading back to Stratford in the afternoon.
Back home I made Thai chicken curry for supper followed by
a very late walk down to the Avon River with Shiela and her dog Abby.
It was dark by the time we all got back home from the 4,3 kilometre walk around the small Lake Victoria.
We had some corn left over from our outing to the river a few days ago so we stopped to feed the swans.
The ancestors of these swans were given to the city of Ottawa, the capital of Canada, by Queen Elizabeth from the royal herd in 1967. One pair was given to Stratford where they have been breeding ever since. They are protected and spend the winter indoors. Every Spring they are led out down to the river by a pipe band and residents of the city.
